The Emotion Cloud is an interactive installation for the Locarno Film Festival that collects and shares visitors’ emotions on the topic of climate change and its’ impact on communities.
The aim of this installation is to raise awareness and trigger conversation in the audience, in order to activate them intellectually so they leave the festival with something new in their mind.
The installation is composed by multiple interaction totems in the shape of clouds that allow individual visitors to receive information on the topic and are prompted to react to it through their facial expression.
The totems surround a contextually similar main area, where the output of the interaction is gathered and displayed for the audience to experience a coloured visualisation of others’ emotions on that same topic. The data will be shared on a bigger scale through a website so remote users can observe the same impact than the users on site.
This prototype would be a first step into the development of a final installation that could take place at the Locarno Film Festival. Working closely with the client, this low-fi prototype allow us to test the general feel of the installation in order to iterate towards a more meaningful experience.
