Webie

Interaction Desing

WEBIE is an Arduino-based vocal assistant device that helps children to improve their STEAM skills through a series of practical and contextually aware activities.

It’s composed by a kit with a series of tools and materials (measuring cup, food coloring, small dinosaur’s figures, marker glitters…) and a voice assistant device that drives the child the during different STEAM activities.

One of the most relevant aspects of WEBIE’s technology is its ability to adapt his choices in terms of games proposed to the environment in which is located: once the child decides in which part of the house he wants to play, WEBIE associates a STEAM subject to the chosen area and adapts the activity to the materials both provided in the kit and present in the house.

WEBIE’s communication is structured in a way that allows children to associate the voice assistant to a real magician.

Dialogues are structured in such a way as to disguise STEAM activities with magic experiments and potions, in order to make science subjects more engaging, funny and easy to be understood.
